Dr. Shrutidhara Sarma is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering (ME) at Indian Institute of Technology Jodhpur (IITJ), India. Prior to joining IITJ in 2019, she held the position of post-doctoral fellow in Kunsan National University (KSNU), South Korea.
Dr. Sarma earned her PhD in 2017 jointly from IIT Guwahati and Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTh) in Greece, facilitated by the Erasmus Mundus fellowship granted by the European Commission, EU. A Gold Medalist from Tezpur University, Dr. Sarma’s accolades include prestigious grants and awards, including the ISEES Young Scientist Award 2024, Smt. Sheela Baya National Award 2023 by Institution of Engineers (India), WISER award from Indo-German Science & Technology Centre (IGSTC) in 2023, SIRE fellowship from SERB in 2023, among others.
As the PI of the Flexible Sensors from Nanocomposites (FERN) Laboratory, Dr. Sarma has garnered over 1.8 crore INR in grants that are dedicated to the development of highly reliable and mechanically robust physical sensors with applications in wearable devices, automotive and aerospace technologies. The FERN lab is a truly international lab with several on-going international collaborations including TU Braunschweig of Germany, Technion of Israel, IIT Delhi etc.
